Board Updates
From time to time we like to point out some issues that residents of Regal Park bring up with the Board. One of the issues is the improper use of the garbage sheds, located in each block of Regal Park. Here are a few common sense guidelines regarding the garbage sheds:
- Don't leave your trash outside the garbage shed doors
- If you can't open the door, contact the board or property manager to let them know so it can be remedied quickly
- Throw your garbage into the dumpster
- We have to pay a company to clean our garbage sheds every month... this a completely unnecessary cost
- Don't leave "gifts" in the garbage shed
- Seriously, nobody wants your couch, canned food, broken exercise machine, etc.
- If your "gift" is not meant to go in a dumpster, then dispose of it properly. (See below for a list of Hazardous Items from the City of Calgary)
- Confront your neighbor if they are being delinquent.
- If you see someone haul an inappropriate item into the shed, or leave garbage on the floor, then it's your responsibility to confront that person or at least notify the board or property manager.
- Please do not give the door lock code to strangers
- Let's try to discourage bottle-pickers and dumpster-divers from coming into Regal Park.
Regal Park is all our home, and we owe it to ourselves to treat it as such.
Hazardous items (City of Calgary)
Waste & Recycling services does not collect the following hazardous items
- automobile parts (take to a City landfill or look in Yellow Pages under "Automobile Recyclers")
- dead animals (call 3-1-1)
- paint (look in the local Yellow pages under "waste disposal - hazardous")
- any liquid material (call 3-1-1)
- propane tanks (look in the local Yellow pages under "waste disposal - hazardous")
- household appliances (refer to our Recycling Opportunities List
(256 KB)document or look in Yellow Pages under "scrap metal")
- herbicides, pesticides, used oil, etc. (look in the local Yellow pages under "waste disposal - hazardous")
- industrial chemical waste (permits may be required, call 3-1-1)
- tires (contact the Alberta Recycling Management Authority
Broken glass, needles and other sharp items should be placed in a sealed, puncture-proof container (such as plastic bleach bottles) with a tight fitting lid, label as "Sharps" and left for regular garbage pick-up.
Ensure large objects fit completely inside the collection container. Items that overhang the container can damage our equipment, your container and property. Also, waste piled around the container is unattractive and can lead to litter issues.
